MTHS Lockdown and Shooting Today: Police Activity at Mountlake Terrace High School in Washington
MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Washington — October 23, 2026 — Reports of a possible lockdown and shooting at Mountlake Terrace High School (MTHS) have raised concerns among students, families and residents. However, as of October 23, a shooting or active lockdown at the school could not be independently confirmed through the latest local reporting and publicly available school information.
The absence of a matching report does not establish that no police activity occurred. Families should rely on direct updates from school officials and local law enforcement for confirmation of any current emergency.
The Mountlake Terrace Police Department regularly publishes information about calls and investigations in the community. Its October 7–13 police blotter, published October 15, records an assault-related response at Mountlake Terrace High School on October 12. However, that entry does not identify a shooting or establish that a lockdown occurred.
The school’s official website provides district announcements, calendar information and school communications. No matching announcement confirming a shooting at MTHS today appeared in the sources reviewed.
Mountlake Terrace has experienced other police investigations near schools. In September 2026, police investigated reports of inappropriate touching involving girls near the high school and subsequently announced an arrest. That case was separate from a shooting allegation and does not verify the current headline.
It is important to distinguish documented past incidents from unconfirmed claims of a new emergency.
Anyone receiving an emergency message from the school should follow the instructions provided by administrators and responding officers. Families should avoid travelling to the school during a possible emergency unless officials say it is safe, and should not share unverified reports about injuries or suspects.
If someone witnesses an immediate threat, they should call 911 and follow law enforcement instructions.
At the time of publication, a shooting, confirmed lockdown, casualty count or suspect connected to a new incident at Mountlake Terrace High School on October 23 had not been verified through the sources reviewed.
